Editing an Account

Opening the form

There are two ways to edit an account:

  • On the Recent tab, swipe the account's row to the left and tap Edit.
  • On the code screen, tap the gear in the top corner. The countdown pauses while the form is open.

Either way the Edit Item form opens. Change what you need and tap Save, or Cancel to keep things as they were.

What you can change

  • Name: what the account is called in every list. It can't be empty.
  • Description: any note that helps you tell accounts apart, such as the email address or username you use there.
  • Tags: tap the chips to add or remove tags. The gear beside the Tags heading opens Manage Tags, if you need to make a new tag first. See Tags.

What you can't change

The Setup Key and the Code Settings (the type, the number of digits, the algorithm and the refresh interval) are fixed from the moment an account is added. They are shown with a small lock. This is deliberate: those values must match exactly what the website expects, and a typo there would silently break every code.

If a website gives you a new setup key, for example after you reset two-step verification there, add it as a new account and archive the old one. If you have a lot of accounts to replace at once, a Replace Duplicates import can update the keys of accounts with the same name and description in one go.

Nothing needs Face ID here

Editing a name, description or tags doesn't ask for Face ID or Touch ID, because none of it reveals a code. Opening the code does, every time.
